Vitamin Weight Gain???From: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Jul 1999 16:22:04 -0500 (CDT)
I've been trying to lose 20-odd pounds for awhile now, and seeing that my diet regimen probably did not provide enough nutrients for my 21 year old body, I started taking a multivitamin (One a Day Women's formula)every morning. But, once I started to take them, I began to GAIN weight. At first I thought that it was water weight or the formation of muscle, but neither of these seem to be the case--I drink at least 1 1/2 gallons(!) of water a day, and my body when I experienced this vitamin-induced gain looked flabbier, lumpier, and generally unhealthy. Everyone around me noticed the unpleasant change before vitamins vs. after. Thinking that this was some freak instance, I stopped taking the pills and later started them again. The exact same thing happened, twice. Why would this happen?? I want to make sure that I'm getting enough nutrients on my low-calorie plan, but I DON'T want to look like a blimp doing it!! :)
