>Dear Brenda - My 26 year old daughter has been going through much of what you describe for approximately two years as well. She has stumped three OB/GYNS so far; has tried physical therapy with deep massage which our GYN now realizes has exacerbated the pain. She is now in the process of getting a complete GI workup and also on some new drug therapy. She has been on muscle relaxers for six weeks which relieve some of the pain but not all. She has had to stop college and was fired from her job because she could not work with the pain. The pain becomes worse the longer she is on her feet. Included in possible diagnoses have been causes due to "misalignment" of her pelvic floor due to her leg dropping from the stirrups during childbirth ( not proven); possible adhesions, though her lap exam was negative for this; chronic appendicitis, ultrasound also negative for this; and the most recent theory, a small bowel problem on the right side, possibly to include an inflammation, ulcer, etc. I have seen my daughter go the wide range of emotions since she was previously strong and healthy before this onset. She gets depressed over the pain and lack of sleep so she is just starting some antidepressants to offset that and get some rest. Not an easy thing to go through for anyone and I wish you a speedy diagnosis - keep the faith!
