repeated dysplasiaFrom: sharon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Jun 1999 20:03:52 -0500 (CDT)
I have a history of abnormal paps (16 years). I have had several biopsies as well as lazer surgery after HPV was found after a biopsy. I still had severak abnormal paps after the lazer surgery. I had two normal paps this year but now I have another abnormal pap and my doctor says that there is so little of my cervex left and what's left is further up in the uterus. It is therefore difficult (and dangerous) to keep doing biopsies. He can see abnormal cells during a colposcopy. He says since I am 49 and have had this problem for years, he recommends a hysterectomy and might as well take the ovaries. I have had no menopasal symptoms yet and would have preferred to wait until menopause. I'd appreciate another opinion. Thanks.
