chronic pelvic pain lower right side

I am a 40 year old woman who has experienced acute pelvic pain in my lower right side for about 2 years now. It was always "manageable" until this past winter, when I was had up to a dozen bouts of pain per day, some lasting over 30 minutes, for a few weeks in a row. Since then, it has settled into a pattern...a few days before my period starts I have severe pains lasting 5 - 30 minutes, several times a day. These pains are so bad I almost pass out. I do not feel feel sick to my stomach, nor do I have diarrhea or a fever. I can push on my lower right side and not feel any tenderness. These pains feel like someone is stabbing me with a knife. Some times I cannot even walk, and when I'm driving I have to pull over until the pain subsides. In February 1999 I had a laparoscopy...all normal...no endometriosis, no cysts, etc. Then I went through an upper and lower GI series...no problems found. Then onto a urologist...nothing found. I also had a lower abdominal CT scan...again nothing. Four doctors are stumped. I cannot take the pain much longer. I am exhausted from lack of sleep some nights. Am I crazy or do I need a specialist in pelvic pain ?
