Interaction between oral contraceptives and dietary supplementsFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Jun 1999 10:10:23 -0500 (CDT)
I'm considering taking a dietary supplement called "Lipotropic and Transport". My consern is that some of the ingredients in the supplement may interfere with the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives I am currently taking. The supplement contains the following: Niacinamide, Pyridoxine 5' Phosphate, Choline bitartrate, Inositol, Taurine, Methionine, Betaine HCL, L-Carnitine, and the following herbs: Papain, Sarsaparilla, Shave Grass, Hawthorn Berries, Capsicum, Gotu Kola, Hyssop, Valerian Root, Myrrh Gum, and Comfrey. Also, are there any particular ingredients/nutrients that I should avoid due to the potential interaction with oral contraceptives?
-- Thank you, Melissa
