18 day cycle or a monthly yeast infection - Which should I choose?From: Eilis (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 Jun 1999 19:16:50 -0500 (CDT)
I am 23. I started the pill when I was 19 b/c without it I get my period every 18 days and am anemic. Since starting the pill I get my period every 28 days - which is great! However, I get a yeast infection every month too. Prior to starting the pill I never had a yeast infection. I have had so many yeast infections I am resistant to Diflucan and have nerve damage on my outer labia. I have been tested for all STDs and diabetes - all negative. I follow all proper sanitary practices, wear cotton panties, use Dreft detergent, etc. I also eat NO yeast products and no sugar. I won't even eat fruit and only drink water. I'VE TRIED IT ALL TO NO AVAIL. I have tried almost a dozen pills- I don't know what to do. Should I go off of the pill? Is this causing the yeast overgrowth? I am really scared b/c I don't want my period every 18 days. Why does this happen? I also don't know what I would use for protection, since spermicide irritates me and I refuse to put any more chemicals in my body (like Depo Provera). I am so depressed over this and often in pain. I don't know if this fits anywhere in the puzzle, but I have Celiac disease. Please, any advice would help.
