Re: OB/GYN or Urology?From: anonymous@obgyn.netSun, 31 Jan 1999 10:17:57 EST
DDT: yo asked if Endometriosis is a GYN or a URO problem. ****** Answer - both. Was your ureter shut down before, during or after the surgery? Di you have an x-ray of the KUB at any time during the course of these events? When? Endometriosis (in some cases) invades the space through which the ureters (kidney drainage tubes) traverse the pelvic. If these Endo implants go there it is not uncommon for them to squeeze the ureter. Surgically this is a mess, and it is difficult to fix. At times a urologist is called into the operating room to help the Gynie repair the problem surgically. They work as a team with the urologist usually doing the resection and often reanastamosis (hooking back up) of the ureteral tube. The post operative course is usually managed jointly. As to the long term care I would think that your Gynie would be handling the medical treatment of the Endo? That is what we do here, but Here is NOT there? As for your present problem >> I am having trouble with my kidney and ureter, etc., << I would think that either GYN or UROLOGIST could handle the problem. Question: What exactly is the nature of >>problem with kidneys etc. <<? ============================================= *Note: Opinions expressed here are for educational purposes only.
