Heya,

I have this problem too--even when all logic and biology says there's just no chance of it happening, the paranoia is still there.

I doubt you're pregnant. Irregularity happens, and two days isn't much. (By now it might not even matter, I suppose.)

I can tell you what helped me stop worrying about this: I learned a lot about signs of fertility, so that I could anticipate ovulation and make damn sure I either didn't have sex, or used a backup method of contraception (like condoms plus spermicidal gel) for five days before and three days after ovulating.

Knowing about things like egg-white cervical mucus will help you pinpoint ovulation when it happens so you'll know really when to expect your period, too (14 days after for most women, but you might need to collect your personal data for a few months). As an example...this month, probably due to having the flu, I'm pretty sure I ovulated five days late. If I didn't *know* I ovulated late, I'd get very worried if I didn't start my period on February 2. But since I do know, I won't worry about it until the 7th. (Heck, you can check back with me on the 7th or 8th if you like.) So I can save myself those five days of being a nervous wreck.

Look up some fertility sites on the web, or pick up a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". I highly recommend knowledge as an antidote to paranoia. This isn't to say I don't worry about it ever, but it's certainly cut down on the fear.

Michaela
