LAVAGIRL:

>From what you tell me I would have to make the diagnosis of "Freshman
Amenorrhea."

This is a very specific amenorrhea which usually occurs in collage age women who often have gone away from home to college foe the first time in their lives. It has been my experience that they show up in the office at Christmas break time with a history of regular menses stopping about September or October with none since. If they have had intercourse they become very worried. Worry compounds the problem.

The Mood Brain (Hypothalmus) is closely communicating with the Master Gland (Pituitary) of the body. The stress of life causes a dysfunction in the Hypothalamic -- Pituitary -- Ovarian -- Uterine Axis and therefore the menses stop.

The condition usually can be diagnosed by giving Progesterone in some form for 10-14 days to induce a period.

Before instituting therapy I would want a complete examination to rule out more rare, but more serious conditions.

I would think that you are NOT pregnant.

See your doctor. Stay cool! Your problem does not sound serious.
