If you have a bacterial infection, this is causing the pain during a pap smear. You probably have bacterial vaginosis. I have had a lot of problems with this infection. Mine still has not cleared up, and it has been over a year. I am not exactly sure what will happen if it doesn't clear up, but I am sure that one of the doctors here can answer that question for you. What meds have you been prescribed?
