My husband & I had a wonderful Christmas "gift." After 2 previous miscarriages (last one Jan. 98) & almost a year of trying, a blood test confirmed I'm pregnant. I'm thrilled, my husband is "cautiously" happy! Beta-quant levels: 12/16-370, 12/18-780 & 12/21-5021, progesterone level on 16th was 24. My ob is on vacation until eartly January so they had me see another ob. An ultrasound was scheduled for the 29th. The tech asked if I had any pain on my left side and showed me a large cyst (7cm) sitting on top of uterus. I told her I've had some pain. She said because of my fluid intake (drank 48 ozs water) the cyst was probably from left ovary but moved. She explained about sudden pain & possible complications. I spoke w/a friend who's a ob/gyn rn & she explained about corpus luteum cyst, but said this one seemed quite large & advised me to call my ob/gyn when she returns from vacation. Before finding out I was pregnant, I was planning to schedule an appt. because of last two cycles I had swelling & some discomfort on left side. Also when my husband & I had intercourse, at the onset of orgasm I would have a sharp pain. I 7cm too large to be a corpus luteum cyst? (The one that is maintaining the pregnancy?) Also could it be a cyst that has been developing for a while. My lmp is 11/15, I'm 39 yrs olf, have a 9 1/2 yr old son delivered by c-section, in good health, normal blood pressure, try to exercise regularly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Will be speaking to my ob/gyn during the coming week. Thank you.
