unable to dilate cervix for hysteroscopy

Recently I underwent laparascopy to explore bicornuate uterus configuration. We had also planned hysteroscopy but prior to sx my doc was unable to insert a lamanaria into cervix for dilation. She ended up dilating under anesthesia and inserting the lamanaria then. This was *incredibly* painful. I have to go back for operative hysteroscopy and am fearing more pain with cervical dilation. Are there any alternatives to the lamanaria?? Please advise. Thanks in advance!
