Thomas:

Thank you for responding. I respectfully disagree with what you said, however.

My gynecologist said he believes I have Polycystic Ovaries, and is in the process of running tests (he ordered hormone studies), and will obtain hospital records from when I had the d&c ten years ago. I have many symptoms of this disease, including the pain, increased facial hair, the weight problem, etc. A sonogram I had about 2 weeks ago revealed that my right ovary is enlarged, has two cysts, and a lesion they could not identify. The left ovary has a lesion as well.

I'm in a great deal of pain (even though my gyn prescribed pain medication), that I'm ready to have this ovary taken out. I've suffered for way too long. Female problems run in my mother's family (she had a hysterectomy, as did my aunt & grandmother), and it appears as though I inherited these problems. I'm 36 years old now, divorced, with no children, and am willing to put up with the possibility of never being able to have children if it would mean being free of this crippling pain.

It seems to me that the only way my gyn can be certain there's nothing more serious than endometriosis and/or polycystic ovaries, is to go in surgically. I'm very concerned as to why those lesions are there.

I never had a laparoscopy, but feel that would be an appropriate option at this time. I'm not able to wait for the cysts to go away, or for hormone therapy to take effect. The pain is too much to bear.

Thank you for your help. Talk to you later.

Diana
