If the cervix becomes obstructed due to scar tissue, and if there is remaining living endometrial tissue in the uterine cavity, retrograde bleeding is possible. Passing a small sound to the dome of the uterus will rule out cervical obstruction. If you are having severe cyclic cramps (possibly associated with light/moderate menses) I would suspect adenomyosis as the most likely culprit for the pain. It is most definitively treated by hysterectomy,IMHO.
