Thought I should also mention that I had a history or irregular periods (hense the hyperplasia) and was disagnosed with polycystic ovaries. When I raised the issue of PCOS, my OBGYN dismissed it. Androgen levels were "slightly raised" she said but within "normal" limits. Thyroid was also checked and although elevated, I was also told it was within "normal" limits.

The hair loss has become quite severe. I have no other symtoms of PCOS other than the polycistic ovaries. No excessive hair in odd places, no deepening of voice, etc.

Please - any information you may have on this distressing condition would be welcomed. If it does turn out to be insulin resistent related (despite initial doctor's evaluation to the contrary), is there a treatment available that would reverse the hair loss?
