Although it's impossible to tell for sure what your diagnosis is over the Internet, it is most likely that you have a corpus luteum cyst, which is the cyst that formed after the egg was released from your ovary. This is normal, although it can sometimes be painful. Had your doctor removed this cyst, you would have miscarried within a few days! Thus, your doctor did the right thing. The corpus luteum cyst produces progesterone, which is essential for the early development of the baby, and if you remove the cyst and don't give extra progesterone, the baby cannot "hold on" to the uterine lining, and a miscarriage occurs.

In almost all cases, the corpus luteum cyst goes away by about 10 weeks of pregnancy. As always, I would discuss this with your doctor, who is in the best position to answer your questions.
