Please tell me if I'm right!!!! Need to know quite urgently! From: Nicola (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Nov 1998 17:07:29 -0600 (CST)
I know this is an old issue and I promise I HAVE done my homework and looked up past messages..but please set my mind at rest once and for all! In reading past messages on this forum I have concluded that it is possible to 'miss' or delay your period using bcp's. I have never found any reference to the type of pill I take, which is Gynera(each pill contins 0.075mg gestodene and 0.03mg ethinylestradiol). I have done the 'skip a period' thing once by starting a pack straight after finishing one, ie during my pill-free week, and took the whole pack, effectively delaying my period by 3 weeks. Am I right or am I wrong in assuming this did nothing to reduce the effectiveness of my pill? The reason why I NEED to know is that I need to do this again (I did this a few months ago). Is it completely safe to do contraception-wise? Another question...could I just take any number of 'extra' pills eg 7, 10 or 14, effectively delaying my period by that number of days and still be safe? Thanks Niki
