alcohol and Hives

I don't drink alcohol very often perhaps a drink or two on weekends, but frankly, not every weekend.

Probably once every 3 or 4 month, when I have drink, my face breaks out in hot welts, similar to hives. I can see no relationship between what I am drinking, it has happened with wine, liqueurs, (such as godiva) and mixed drinks ( generally the mixed drinks I drink have either tezuila, or ammereto)

Sometimes I realize I'm having a reaction at the first sip, othertimes it takes a bit longer. I find no relationship between foods consumed with the drink or time of my cycle.

Usually, the symptoms can be reduced by stopping the alcohol drink, drinking a coupld of glasses of water and using cool washclothes on my face.

What could be causing this. If I were allergic to alcohol, wouldn't I have a reaction everytime I drank anything, or when I drank more in an evening?

Just curious about suggestions, reccomendations ( I know, stop drinking ever) or ideas what could be causing this.

Sincerely , Dee
