I am 47 and have been taking Premarin since a 1993 hysterectomy. I understand why I should be taking estrogen; the bone and heart protection. But I do worry about taking it also as there is a history of cancer in my family (not breast cancer). I would like to stop taking it; I believe that I can get enough calcium from supplements, and I do eat well and try to exercise regularly. But I have hypertension....145/88....is this something that should keep me taking estrogen....for the heart protection? My dr. refuses to listen to my concerns. In fact, I haven't found a dr. yet that will consider taking me off of the estrogen. Maybe I should listen to them? I thank you in advance!
