Information I have read (not scientific studies, but accounts of patients and of physicians who have done many of UAE's) seems to indicate that the number of fibroids makes no difference, that all are affected, that there is about an 80% success rate with a substantial shrinkage of all fibroids, regardless of size, number, location. And that there is no re-growth (after 8+ years in France where they have been done for that long).

Wouldn't the risks of this procedure would be low compared to major surgery such as hysterectomy of any kind?

About FDA approval, I understand that UAE has been done for a long time to control bleeding in emergency situations - this is just a newer application (done for eight years in France, I understand, and only a couple of years here) of an established procedure. So, is FDA approval necessary? Not saying it's not - this is something I just don't know.
