Re: LEEP and pregnancyFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Nov 1998 18:21:50 -0600 (CST)
Angela, I too had a LEEP procedure due to moderate dysplasia with possible HPV infection about 4 1/2 years ago. 10 months ago I delivered a perfectly healthy baby boy with no complications. Up until my pregnancy I continued to have abnormal pap smears which have since come back normal. I also had a large portion of the cervix removed during the LEEP. This did not affect my ability to carry my baby to full term however even though the cervix fully effaced around the time of my due date, the cervix was unable to dilate on it's own which my ob thought was due to scar tissue. I was induced a week after my due date with a medication that causes the cervix to dilate. I hope my experience puts your worry to rest. May you have a healthy pregnancy and quick labor. Amanda
