Hi, I just wanted to alert and remind you to please use caution while you are doing your holiday (and everyday) shopping. On 10/17 I shopped at several stores in one small area with my credit card. A person or persons as yet unknown from one or more of those places used one of my store copy receipts to then make a counterfeit copy of my credit card and use it successfully 6 times the following week. Luckily, I was planning to pay off that account and close it and I called the company on 11/6 to get the pay off balance and was able to get the account closed and flagged through the security and fraud department. MasterCard is being very gracious in that they waived the $50.00 and all un-authorized uses (total of $1,689.96). The safety tips are: 1.) Make sure no store employee leaves your view with your card. 2.) Make sure it is indeed your card that is handed back to you. 3.) Call the 1-800 number for your credit card company to obtain your up-to-the-minute balance a couple times a month. If your balance is higher than you expect - speak with a customer service rep and question them on the charges. 4.) Save your receipts until your statement arrives. I hope none of you ever experience this, but unfortunately, the chances are some of you will.
