Burning sensation in lower Abdomen/Pelvic areaFrom: B.Mitchell (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 4 Nov 1998 21:33:02 -0600 (CST)
I have an intense burning sensation in my lower abdomen. It feels like my insides are on fire. Not the same as heart burn. It sometimes doubles me over. The first doctor I went to said it probably had something to do with my ovaries and ordered an ultrasound. The doctor told me there was nothing and not to worry. I went to the gyno, who took a pap smear and some test for STDs, just in case. All came back normal or negative. After four months of the pain I went to yet another doctor. This doctor took a vaginal culture, but found nothing. The sensation intensifies the week before my period, but sticks around in between. I am on birth control and the gyno said my chances of endometriosis is very rare, so not to worry. This pain has not gone away and it's been over four months. I really think there is something wrong (and not stress). What can I do or request from the doctors (tests?). No one seems to be concerned except me. I never visit the doctor except for yearly gyno check-ups and this time I am really worried. Can anyone suggest or help out?
