2 Large Fibroids - connected through uterine wallFrom: Stephanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Sep 1998 14:06:46 -0500 (CDT)
I am 31 years old, have never had children. Was diagnosed with fibroids after severe menstrual pain/bleeding, pelvic exam and subsequent Ultrasound. Can't take birth control pills (raises blood pressure substantially). Currently menstrual cycle is every 22-30 days with 11-13 days of bleeding (5-7 extremely heavy), fatigue, extreme pain (naproxen, ibuprofen can't touch the pain), when exercising - some bladder incontinence. My uterus is 11cm (normal is 7?) and said hysterectomy was only alternative due to the sizes and location of the fibroids. 2 fibroids 4-11cm each - one on the inside of the uterus another attached directly to it through the uterine wall but located on the outside of the uterus. Questions: 1) Do I have other options than hysterectomy with this condition? 2) What actually produces fibroids and how are they formed? Could a high protein diet or abortion contribute to their formation?
-- Thanks Stephanie
