BCP's and contact lensesFrom: AMD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Sep 1998 11:36:09 -0500 (CDT)
I have always heard that women can have difficulty with their contact lenses while taking the pill and during pregancy. Why is this? Can discontinuing the pill cause the same problem? I am curious because I am nearing the end of 2nd month since discontinuing my BCP, and I am having an awful time with my contacts the past week or so -- they are hard to put in, I get frequent tearing in bright light, and I get tearing when I remove them. Are these problems consistent with hormonal changes of discontinuing the pill? Also, at what point during pregnancy do most women start having problems with their contacts? I would hate to go out and get a new prescription now and then need to do it again in a couple of months if I get pregnant (especially since I just spent $50 on a 3-month supply of contacts!). Thanks, Andrea
