2nd post extremely painful pregnancy, please help.

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant. I have had 2 previous miscarriages at 18 and 5 weeks. I have had several complications with this pregnancy and and am currently working half days ( I was on complete bedrest for a month and a half) I have had 5 bacterial vaginosis infections and 1 UTI this pregnancy as well.

Over the past few weeks I have been in an increasing amount of physical pain. It started with feeling like a had a bad catheter that someone was trying to yank out, and now I am having severe menstrual type cramps with lower back pain and it is very difficult to walk or stand, especially after I have been sitting or lying down for more than 30 minutes. My urinalysis and cultures come back clean.

I went to the doctor and they found that I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced (I was completely long and closed one week earlier) but I am not having any contractions.

Any ideas why I might be in so much pain. I can't imagine that this is normal.

If it continues, would I be wrong to request that my doctor induce early (36-37 weeks) ? And for you doctors, would you consider inducing for this reason?

It is becoming a significant stress factor in my husband and my life. My hubby is in medical school and does not have the time to continuoulsy wait on me, especially when he is trying to get ahead for when the baby is born.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Susan
