I am a male gynecologist and I had also some anecdotal histories about that. Once I received a woman who asked me if I remembered her. I apologized but I did not remember her. She said that I delivered her two years ago. It was early in the morning after a long labor (almost 20 hours) and a long second stage of labor (3 hours pushing). She had decided to consult a female Dr because pregnancy is a female affair. Her Dr called me at 6 o'clock in the morning. At that time, I had to do a forceps delivery but inside ten minutes the baby was there. She said that she prefer to see a male competent Dr than a female incompetent. I am sure that the competence criterium is more important than the gender. Dr Paul-André Latulippe MD FRCCP(s) Ob/Gyn 111 Rang 9 St-Christophe d'Arthabaska Québec,Canada G6P 6S1 tel:(819) 357-1784
