Re: late pill or missed pill?

For a combined oestrogen and progesterone pill, the recomendation in the UK is 12 hours. For a progesterone only pill some say 3 hours and others 6 hours.

For the combined pill. Always remember that a pill missed at the beginning or end of the cycle is much worse than one missed in the middle of the packet. If you miss a pill towards the end and you are on a monophasic pill (same dose of oestrogen and progesterone in all the tablets) then carry straight on to your next packet without a 7 day break. If your pills have 28 tablets (not 21) then the last 7 tablets are placebo tablets. Then missing the tablet 21 is the danger time so miss out on your last 7 tablets and start a new pack.

However, you should not fiddle around with your birth control pills without speaking to your doctor. A lot depends on which pill you are on. The point that is being made is that if you miss a pill it is not a disaster if you see your doctor and take his/her advice.
