To anyone who has reoccuring ovarian cysts on BCPFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Jul 1998 14:02:53 -0500 (CDT)
I've had a cyst that was grapefruit sized that was laproscopicly removed. This happened while I was taking Tryphasic BCP's. Two months after the surgery, I have another cyst on the same ovary, but it's not that big and it's going away. I finally got my doctor to understand that the fear factor of this is the worst. Not knowing if the pain means that I will have surgery or if it's not that bad. I could have lost my ovary in the last surgery and I'm only 23 with no children. I fear my body. He found a paper that suggests that Tryphasic BCP might not be as effective as low dose monophasic pills. So I've switched my BCP and hopefully this will prevent these cysts. He also suggested that I be seen every 6 months for check ups to put my mind at ease. I'm posting this info for anyone who has the same condition as I do. I have access to medical journals and I also use the Internet and I haven't found much of anything about women who get cysts who are taking BCP. My doctor says that 90% of women will not get cysts on BCP. Who knows if this will work, but I have something to try. Ann
