Plugged nipple pore?From: A. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Jul 1998 00:38:57 -0500 (CDT)
Add one more to the list of difficulties I've experienced in the last 10 months of breastfeeding: a plugged nipple pore. It seems to be deep-seated within the nipple, causing a white spot that sometimes appears, sometimes vanishes. It certainly irritates the tissue around it, because the nipple becomes painfully erect many times a day. Latch-on, on that side, is sharply painful, and the pain only gradually eases off. I know these are often associated with plugged ducts, but I don't have a plugged duct. I know how to care for plugged ducts. I don't know how to get rid of this, though. I took a sterilized needle to it after it became a kind of blister, and nursing was just *too* painful - some milk came out, and it reduced in size and pain for a few days. But it's come back. What suggestions does anyone have for making this go away? --angela
