I am 32 weeks pregnant, and I had an ultrasound done two days ago. The report showed that the placenta was bleeding. My doctor did not give this a name, but I did ask if it was placental abruption because I have read about that. He said that it was not, and he said that the placenta is bleeding between the placenta and the bag of waters. I was told that this is often an indicator of pre-term labor. I was told that the ultrasound results were all within normal limits other than this. He had me take the new SalEst test which tests for estriol in saliva to get a better idea if labor is about to start. I do not have the results of that test yet. I am wondering if the bleeding will cause additional problems even if labor can be stopped. I am scheduled to have biophysical profiles done weekly from now on. I have searched the archives here as well as all of the books that I can find, but I can't seem to find anything on this. I would appreciate any additional information.
