Wow, the first time at age 27? Basic tips are: Do not douche or engage in intercourse for atleast 48 hours before your appointment, this will help your Doctor get more/better cells from your pap smear. During periods paps usually cannot be done. Try to relax as much as possible, and all should go smoothly. Be sure to make any questions/concerns known before he/she procedes with the examination.
