Hi Teresa-

Wow this brings back memories. I started my period the first day of 7th grade in gym class, I was 12. I too had painful periods. What worked for me is that my mother would see that my periods were regular, every 28 days and on days 26 and 27 she would give me Motrin ( Ibuprofen 600 mgs ) with food once a day mostly at night and then as directed on the bottle the first two days of my period and I was ok. No cramps at all. Before we did that, I was home from school missing 3 days a month until we figured it out. So the secret is get it before it gets acute.

I can empathize, cramps are no fun. If you can get her out walking during this time or taking a warm bath, all help.

I have a 12 year old daughter that began menstruating this past January. Her periods have become regular, but are becoming increasingly painful. She was in tears today. I have given her ibuprofen and Midol. They do help, but often the cramps get too bad before she has a chance to take anything. Suggestions? Help?

Teresa
