Amber, I am not an MD or RN - I teach childbirth classes and Im a mom to 4 so Ill try to answer your questions the best I can.

Last night however, (I'm now 36 weeks)I had >"contractions" from about 5:00 until 9:00. They were painless,
>irregular (between 5 and 11 minutes) so I figured that they were BH
>again. However, everything that I've read has said that walking or

>and went to bed, and sometime during the night they went away. Obviously
>they weren't the "real thing", but were they BH?

Sometimes it is hard to tell. "The Real Thing" is sometimes very hard to out in early labor. They may have been regular contractions, they may have been BH. As long as they have stopped, you are OK, but Id let your provider know. He/she may do an internal on your next visit to see if you have dialated or effaced at all. Sounds like Baby is getting ready and your body is letting you know to just hang i there awhile longer!!

>One other thing. When labor is well and truly happening, will the baby

all

It actually depends on the baby - he/she may be active between or even during contractions, but some babies just relax and dont move too much. A lot of babies respond to contractions by wiggling about but I wouldnt worry if your baby decides to sit back and take it all in for awhile. As long as the heart rate is good, you dont need to worry at all. Once labor gets going, baby's heart rate may drop during a contraction, but should bounce right back. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions, and let us know how it goes!
