Cortisol testing

I was diagnosed with PCO two years ago. Since then, I have been looking for an explanation to my elevated insulin levels. Two weeks ago I insisted that my doctor order a thyroid, cortisole, DHEA, and some other test. They all came back normal.

I just stopped the bcp 7 days prior to having the test. Could that affect the test results?

Also, my doctor only did a morning test for cortisol. Is that enough?

Also, I know that I experience more sever levels of PCO when I am under stress, and I've recently read the stress cortisol connection. What can I do to completely eliminate or confirm that cortisol is my problem?
