Is it advisable operate on a polyp while there is an infection? From: Andrew (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 May 1998 21:31:30 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, This letter comes from Bolivia. My wife and I are very frustrated. She has a polyp in the cervical area. After giving us a big scare about cancer (which I guess is very unlikely in polyps), we've had a terrible experience with getting it removed. To make a long story short, we've settled on one doctor who seems to be the best one we've talked to, yet she wants to operate on this polyp even though there is also an infection in the uterus and a lot of inflamation (4 crosses - if that makes any sense). Does it make any sense to operate without curing the infection first? Is that dangerous? Isn't that an infection risk? I'd appreciate any help on this.
-- Sincerely, Andrew Turner
