My Doctor described it as follows: The blood veins that run upwards in your body have valves to stop the blood from falling back down. With pelvic congestion these valves aren't working properly and it results in blood collecting in the area. It is very similar to varicous veins in your legs. Symptoms: very often women get pain the time surrounding the period, and the pain can be anything from mild to excruciating. It is also common to have pain in the back of your legs. They do not know what causes it, most women have it, but only some experience pain. But very often it can happen after a pregnancy, or perhaps other hormonal changes. My doctor suggested I take 100 mg vitamin B6 every day for a month, and see if I got better. Maybe it is worth you trying too. After all it can't do you any harm, too much vitamin B is expelled through passing water, so there is no danger of overdosing. Hope this helps. I have also found some websites that talk about this syndrome, but they basically cover more or less what I have written here. They also suggest surgical ways of lessening the symptoms. Try a Yahoo search with these words "Pelvic congestion syndrome" Elin
