Breast tenderness on the pill w/UPDATE Please Reply!!!From: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 May 1998 13:19:57 -0500 (CDT)
How long is it normal to have breast tenderness as a side effect on the pill? I'm on my 4th month on Allesse and have had terrible breast pain ever since the first week of the first pack. In fact, the only time I DON'T have it is on the placebo pills, and like clockwork, by the end of the placebo week it is gone, only to return about a week into the new pack! It seems to be worse some months more than others (1st OK, 2nd bad, 3rd moderate, 4th terrible!). All the other side effects I've had since beginning the pill (nausea, little cramps, etc.) have died down, but my breasts are still sore! A quick update: I've been taking antibiotics for a case of B.V. (not had intercourse a few days before or since starting them, BTW), and after a day or two, the tenderness became much less bothersome. Does this "prove" that the tenderness is pill related and normal for this amount of time? Does this reduction of tenderness mean that while taking these (Flaygl) I'll start a period, or will they just cut down the effectiveness? (I'm not due for my pill period yet)
