I do not use epidurals when doing external versions. The reason is, if I am using too much force, I want your pain to be an indication of htat; with an epidural, you won't have pain, and I won't have a gauge to know whether I'm applying too much force that could hurt the baby or you

I usually don't, unless you are already dilated, are greater than 38 weeks, or unless we succesfully flipped the baby befor, only to have him/her scoot right back inot breech position.

I usually do them around 36 - 37 weeks. Anybody can flip a kid earlier, but most of those kids will flip right back. If we do it at 36 or 37 weeks, more kids wil stay where we want htem
