You are absolutely right, and I forgot to add how lucky I felt to have such a good experience. After posting my message I thought how it might have sounded, and of course did not mean it that way. I'm all for pain relief if you need/want it. I gave birth in a foreign county where epidurals were not an option, so it was 'voluntary natural'. I am small boned and delivered an 8 pounder, and am just hoping the next baby is as easy. I just wanted to tell the other side of the story, because so many woman are terrified of giving birth (I was!) and all you ever seem to hear about are the horror stories! My apologies if I offended anyone. My point wasn't that labour isn't painful, but that you do have some control over how you prepare for and react to that pain. Good luck to all.
