OCP's and perimenopauseFrom: Retta (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 29 Apr 1998 19:52:18 -0500 (CDT)
I am 43. I am experiencing mild perimenopause symptoms and my doc suggests that OCP's will help "even out" the monthly cycles. I am not overly concerned about getting pregnant. Are OCP's the best choice for my situation? I am also experiencing dryness during intimate times with my husband (Will OCP's help dryness?);and I am finding myself experiencing extreme mood swings about 1 week prior to my period. I am also noticing an increase in pre-menstrual acne which I have not had to deal with for several years. I am concerned about "needing" constant medication and wonder if "toughing it out" is the better way to go. This is new territory to me and a bit scary. I get conflicting advice from various friends/family and am looking for the best alternative. I look forward to reading your reply(s).
