This used to happen to me, too, Jennifer - until I got so big that turning over required an industrial-sized crane (heh), waking up, or both. Ideally, of course, you should try to sleep on your (left) side. But you can't control what you do in your sleep, and anyway, billions of people have been born healthy. Some of their moms must have slept on their backs - that's the way I figure it.

The bigger the baby gets, the more weight will press on the major blood vessels which supply the uterus. But then, the bigger the baby (and you) gets, the harder it'll be to roll onto your back while asleep, in my experience. And the more uncomfortable it'll be to lie on your back at all (which may wake you up).

Every time you wake up and find yourself on your back, turn onto your side. That's the best you can do. And try not to worry about what you can't control - just do what you *can* do.

Good luck. You may find (as I do) that even after the baby's born, you naturally want to sleep on your side. It's an interesting possible side-effect of pregnancy. You just get used to it.
