adhesion preventionFrom: Lea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Apr 1998 13:36:38 -0500 (CDT)
I read the transcript regarding adhesions and INTERCEED, I have one question: Is INTERCEED used only for abdominal surgery or can it be used with laparoscopic surgeries? I have had 3 laps in the past 6 years and within 3-4 months after each I developed problematic adhesions. 6 weeks ago I had an LAVH and the concern about adhesions is weighing heavily on my mind. I have followed my doctor's orders to the letter regarding my recovery period, however, with 2 RN's in the family I have gotten 2 points of view as far as adhesion prevention on my part. One says light activities and exercises (gentle strectches, etc.) will prevent them, the other says that it doesn't matter what I do or don't do I will either have them or not. I see my doctor on Monday (20th) for my 6 week check-up and I plan to ask him if anything was used to prevent adhesions from forming but I would like to have a bit more information/opinion from the experts here. By the way, my recovery has been a breeze, I am finally pain free and feel like I've been reborn!!! I had a very positive attitude about this surgery, I was even looking forward to it, and I am sure that helped with my recovery.
