PolymenorrheaFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Mar 1998 17:55:36 -0600 (CST)
My daughter has had polymenorrhea since age of 10 (she is now 18). At the age of 13 she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Started on synthroid 0.88mg dosage, continues to have polymenorrhea since diagnosed. She is also taking loestrin Fe 1/20. She still has two periods a month, each lasting up to a week each. Had a normal pelvic ultrasound done and had a normal vaginal exam. Hormone levels are in the normal range. While on birth control pills, chloestrol goes to 234, triglyceride level is 378. Tried her on triphasal 28 birth control pills and this caused heart rate to drop to 40 and cause fainting spells and severe n/v. This has made her life very stressful and is being treated for stomach uclers. Do you have any suggestions as to tests or other specialists to visit? Another note, if she stops taking the birth control pills, her cholestrol level was 139. If not taking b/c pills, she has a continuous menstrual period.
