endometriosis and birth control optionsFrom: Anissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 16 Mar 1998 14:17:41 -0600 (CST)
Ob-gyn doctors, Thank you for being so helpful in the past and I thank you in advance for your time on this inquiry. I visit my Ob-gyn next month and have a few questions in advance. I was switched from Ortho Novum 777 to Nordette due to "light" endometriosis-like symptoms. I was then switched to Allese due to high blood pressure (for me), weight gain, water retention, acne, etc. The pain endometriosis-like pain has subsided, but I am still experiencing higher than normal blood pressure, water retention, and acne. I had no problems on Ortho Novum 777 until the pain began. With possible endometriosis, are an IUD, cervical cap, or Depo-Provera safe options? My husband and I do not want children in the next 6-8 years and have been considering a vasectomy, but we are very young for such a permanent option. However, I start med-school this fall and I definitely need this worry off of my mind. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
