Pregnancy and high dosages of Vitamin B6From: Michael (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Feb 1998 09:19:44 -0500
I have been taking vitamin B6 supplements for one month since I understand this vitamin may help in increasing progesterone levels. However, the recommended dosage is 50 to 150 mg per day. Any higher would need to be supervised by a doctor. Unfortunately, I have been taking 250 mg per day (not supervised by a doctor). I may be 2 weeks pregnant. I have discontinued use of the 250 mg tablets, however I am very concerned about the effects of this dosage on the embryo. What kind of problems may this have caused? If I am pregnant should I request an ultrasound as soon as it is possible to determine whether the fetus has been adversely affected? I am beating myself up over having been so stupid!
