thickening of uterus wallFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 27 Feb 1998 21:43:52 -0600 (CST)
After taking hormone therapy for post-menopausal symptoms such as UTI, my mother experienced bloody discharge from her vagina. A biopsy showed a thickening of the uterus wall. She is not sure what this thickening is called or why it occurred. Her doctor has taken her off the hormone therapy for at least 3 months. (Consequently, she has had another UTI). She is now scared to return to hormone therapy. Could someone please explain what went wrong with my mother's uterus, how dangerous is it, and what steps she should now take to correct the problem Are there some types of hormone replacement therapy that are safer than others? She does not have access to the Net, and I don't think she understands what's wrong. Thank you. Regards, Laura
