adenomyosisFrom: Marilyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 24 Feb 1998 18:21:17 -0600 (CST)
I have recently moved to Taiwan. My doctor in the states told me several years ago that I had a uterine fibroid. She said we would just watch it to make sure it wasn't growing too much and it was nothing to worry about. Possibly causing my very heavy periods. Yesterday I went to a doctor here. I was shocked to be told that I have "adenomyosis" and should have a hysterectomy!! I have NO symptoms or problems. I am peri-menopausal with no annoying symptoms. My periods come ever 3 months or so and heavy bleeding is no longer a problem. Questions: What is the difference between fibroids and adenomyosis, if any? If I eventually decide to take HRT will that cause the adenomyosis to worsen and if so, what is the solution? Thanks you
