1 year post-hysterectomy pain and menopausal symptomsFrom: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Feb 1998 12:05:55 -0600 (CST)
I am 24 now, had a hysterectomy last year due to severe pain and uncontrolable bleeding. They took everything except one ovary to leave me with "natural hormones". They never found out what caused this, but I do have family members who have had uterine, cervical, and ovarian cancers. Now I am experiencing pain in the side where the ovary was left and all the classic symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, headaches, you name it. But these symptoms are nothing compared to the pain I once had. I think it cant get too much worse now if I do get this ovary removed also, but I definitely DO NOT want to go on HRT, due to my family history and high breast cancer risk. Anyone who may have experienced this, or who has any advice, please respond!!!! I have an appointment Feb 27th and would really like to have more than complaints for my doctor.
