I give my patients very simple instructions when they leave the hospital after an abdominal hysterectomy. "If you didn't do it here, you don't do it at home" for the first 7-10 days after being discharged from the hospital. the post operative office visit comes next and then activity is increased. Also, not even being a passenger in a car for 3 weeks from the day of surgery except to visit the doctor - because, if you'r hit in a car accident, your incision may not be strong enough to hold up. Good luck with the surgery.
